Looking through through the Google Webmaster Blog the other day i stumbled across this; Google’s SEO report card – created to help Google’s engineers and employees better optimise their product pages for search engines, this card proves even Google are aware of and actively participating in search engine optimisation. The report touches on many on-page and on-site SEO factors, including title tags, meta tags, heading tags, canonical URLs, image tags and link anchors – showing again that this, along with link building, is still one of the most obvious and crucial elements of SEO.
The most useful part, however, are the examples that are included on each point – allowing you to understand what is right and what is wrong on each SEO factor
Want to see it for yourself? Click to view the report card.

Not every page that links to you is given equal “voting power”. Pages that have a high PageRank have more voting power than pages with low PageRank. This means that the “boost” a link gives to your own PageRank is closely related to the PageRank of the site that’s linking to you.
