New Week, New Website!

NEW WEBSITE PREVIEW

After weeks of design, planning and coding, we’ve finally taken the plunge and fully redesigned the Designbysoap Ltd website. The new website features a combined, dedicated landing page for our infographic design service, incorporating static infographics, interactive design, motion graphics and data visualisation. As well as this, we’ve completely redone our infographic portfolio (which you can now find on the homepage), written a brand new about us page and completely redesigned our on-site blog to fit our new branding. The website is now also fully responsive, meaning you get an optimal... Read The Rest →

New Website, New Offices & New Staff

OFFICE PREVIEW

It’s been a busy few weeks here at Designbysoap; as well as working with a whole host of new national and international clients, we’ve found the time to move offices and redesign our website – not to mention bring some new talent on board. Even though he’s been here for a little while now, we’d like to extend an official welcome to Daniel Geoghan, our newest infographic designer, as well as Anthony Stones, who’s come on board as a copywriter. We’re still on the look out for new team-members however,... Read The Rest →

Designbysoap Sponsored Manset Sold To Championship Club Reading

Our first ever football sponsorship package ended this weekend, with Designbysoap sponsored Hereford United striker Mathieu Manset being sold to Championship club Reading for an as-yet undisclosed fee.  Whilst the exact transfer sum remains unknown, it is rumoured that the sale of the French striker is one of the biggest deals in Hereford United’s history, and marks an important milestone for the club. We’re pleased that we’re associated with such a high profile transfer, and wish Mathieu all the best at his new club. Designbysoap aren’t finished with their football... Read The Rest →

Google’s Green Investments

They always seem to be in the news lately with the acquisition of this or takeover of that, and there is no denying that Google seems to re-invest a lot of its (admittedly significant) profit. However, you might be surprised by some of the things they invest in as well as technology companies. Here is a quick run down of some of the more interesting recent purchases: 1. Wind Farms – Google very recently announced they had agreed a 20 year deal with NextEra Energy Sources, a wind power company... Read The Rest →

Smartphone Wars – The Patent Battle

With the release of the first iPhone back in 2007, the ‘smartphone’ was really born. It combined all the great elements of other phones at the time, and really started the trend. With the explosive growth of the mobile market and smartphones in the following years, companies have been ruthless in the development of new technologies. Unsurprisingly this has lead to numerous lawsuits being filed inwardly against each other, with a sprinkling of smaller outside technology companies claiming the big boys have infringed on various patents of theirs. So for... Read The Rest →

Could Google’s App Inventor Ruin Andoid?

With the relatively slow uptake of Android (compared to initial sales of the iPhone and apps), Google has decided to release an ‘App Inventor’ for their new mobile OS.  It comes in the form of a visual ‘drag and drop’ web interface rather than a large, complicated source developers kit, and requires no programming at all. Tests have apparently been conducted amongst members of the public, and even the average non-technical chump an use it, so now anyone at all can make an app. Excellent, right? Well…maybe. I’m sure there... Read The Rest →

Google Games next up?

Google always seems to be in the news lately, with rumours constantly abounding about their next venture. So far there has been the ‘Facebook killer’ in Google Me (just a rumour currently), Google Voice (a Skype style VIOP program), the recent acquisition of ITA Travel to create ‘Google Travel’ or something, Google Chrome OS, Google Checkout to rival Paypal and the onward march of the Android OS to mention but a few. I read an article a few weeks ago that stated one of the only avenues Google hadn’t ventured... Read The Rest →

What Is SEO?

If you need SEO or social media marketing, get in touch with is via the contact form. Image courtesy of: www.flickr.com/photos/doglotion/

Designbysoap Tutorials – Make Photos Into Graphics

Being able to turn photos you’ve taken into digital graphics is an incredibly useful trick for all kinds of graphic design, but especially posters and music design. In this tutorial I will show you an easy way to create a photoshop graphic from photo, perfect to then use in other applications. A few pointers before we begin. We’ll be creating a four-layer graphic here, so you need to pick out four colours. In the image below I have chosen dark red, lighter red, dark grey and light grey. It tends... Read The Rest →

Designbysoap Tutorials – Make Your Graphics Appear Printed Onto Any Material

Welcome to the first in a new series of designbysoap tutorials. Today’s tutorial is very easy and quick, but produces some really great results.  What we are aiming to do is take a logo and make it look like it’s printed onto a material. This can be done with any logo and material, but seems to work best with large areas of colour or graphic that give the texture a chance to show through. To do this you will need a graphic of your choice and a high-res material or... Read The Rest →
